Trails

The difficulty level of trails in the Red Hill Area is generally intermediate to advanced due to the steep rocky terrain. The south side of Red Hill receives the greatest amount of use by hikers, runners and mountain bikers. Public access to Red Hill is limited to the trailhead immediately north of Carbondale. Parking is limited during weekdays because of park and ride users, but is generally available on weekends. Dogs are permitted on the trails and USE OF LEASHES IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO AVOID CONFLICTS WITH WILDLIFE AND OTHER TRAIL USERS. "Doggy pots" are available at the parking lot and the trailhead so pet owners can clean up after their pets. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOGGIE POOP BAGS ALONG THE TRAIL. All users are encouraged to leave the area in a better condition than the way they found it. Please pick up any trash on the trails and pack it out.
